Privacy
NVDA Remote Web is a small, independent service. Here is exactly what happens to your information.
What passes through this service
Browsers can't connect to NVDA Remote servers directly, so a gateway on this server connects for you. Your keystrokes, the remote computer's speech, braille and clipboard text pass through the gateway on their way to and from the NVDA Remote server. The connection from your browser to the gateway, and from the gateway to the NVDA Remote server, are both encrypted. As with any NVDA Remote server, the gateway itself handles this content unencrypted while passing it along.
What is recorded
- The gateway never records keystrokes, speech, braille, clipboard text or keys.
- It records basic connection events: the time, your IP address, and which NVDA Remote server you connected to. These are used to keep the service running and prevent abuse, and are kept in the server's system logs, which are rotated regularly.
What is stored on your device
Your settings, the last server you used, servers whose certificates you trust and, only if you choose, your key are saved in this browser's local storage. They never leave your device. Clear them with "Reset all settings" or by clearing this site's data.
